Service Description

Tuesday Online Yin Yoga is an hour set aside each week to rest deeply into your body and reconnect with your own natural rhythms. Unlike more dynamic styles of yoga, Yin asks nothing of speed or performance. Instead, it offers time — time to soften into each posture, time to listen, time to notice how your body unwinds when you are held in stillness. This class is suitable for all levels, including complete beginners. Postures are mainly floor-based and supported with cushions, blankets, or yoga props so that you can feel safe and comfortable as you stay in each shape for several minutes. Through this sustained approach, Yin works into the fascia — the connective tissues that hold the body together — encouraging hydration, elasticity, and ease of movement. Many students notice that their joints feel freer and their body lighter, not through effort, but through release. Alongside the physical benefits, Yin has a profound impact on the nervous system. Modern life pulls us constantly into states of stress and stimulation; Yin gently draws us back into balance. By holding each posture and softening the breath, the parasympathetic nervous system is activated the “rest and restore” response that allows the body to recover and the mind to settle. Many people leave class feeling as if they’ve been wrapped in calm, carrying that sense of spaciousness into the rest of their week. The practice is also rooted in the wisdom of the Chinese meridian system. Each posture is chosen to stimulate specific energy channels within the body, much like acupuncture, but through mindful movement and gentle pressure. Over time, students often report not just physical release but also an emotional lightness, as energy that has been held too tightly begins to move more freely.

Below are a few suggestions to help you get the most out of your session and create a calm, supportive space at home. You’ll need a yoga mat or a comfortable surface to lie on, and a warm, quiet space where you’re least likely to be disturbed. Headphones are recommended for a more immersive experience with the class playlist, and closing any unnecessary tabs on your laptop or device can help improve both sound and picture quality. Both yin and restorative yoga use props to support the body in stillness and comfort. You don’t need specialist equipment , many household items work beautifully. Gather as many blankets, cushions, and towels as you can before the class begins. Blankets and towels can be folded to create support under the body or used for warmth, while cushions and throw pillows make excellent substitutes for bolsters. An eye pillow or something soft to cover the eyes can also help deepen relaxation. Take a little time to prepare your space before class begins so you can settle in, get cosy, and give yourself permission to slow down. I’ll guide you through everything you need once we begin. Booking policy reminder; No refunds given, but you are welcome to move your booking to another date up to 2 hours before class start time.
