The Yoki Way  holds its group Gong Bath once month on the 4th Friday at Follerton community Hall, Totnes

7:30pm (Doors open 7:15pm)

Please be sure to bring a yoga mat, or similar cushioning, any blankets or pillows you might like (we have plenty of space to get comfortable).

What to Expect at the Totnes Group Gong Journey

When you arrive in the hall you are welcome to pull an oracle card from the bowl and settle into the space while the rest of the group gathers.

As a Reiki Master, I offer direct Reiki at the beginning of every session for anyone who chooses to receive it. There is no physical touch involved, and Reiki is always optional.

The Sound Journey itself

The main part of the session invites you to lie back, relax, and allow yourself to be carried by vast layers of sound and vibration from the gongs. The instruments will be sounding for around 50 to 55 minutes, creating an immersive environment that supports deep rest, nervous system release, and inner exploration.

Fun fact: Large gongs produce so many complex overtones and harmonics that your ears only perceive around twenty percent of what is happening in the room. The rest is felt throughout the body as vibration.

I often include a short walk-about gonging segment so you can experience the sound waves close to your body. Many people describe this as  grounding

The Gift of Silence

The gong journey always concludes with a period of silence known as shunyata. Translated from Sanskrit, this means void or emptiness. This quiet space lasts for around three to five minutes and is an essential part of the experience. It allows the body and mind to integrate everything that has just been received.

Afterwards, you are free to leave gently or stay and share your experience if you feel inclined.

Everyone processes sound differently, and its different each time.

The Instruments

At these group sessions, you will hear four to five distinct gongs, each with a unique voice. One of the core gongs is a large symphonic gong named Yule. The name comes from an ancient Sumerian term meaning ancient and perfect and was used to evoke a golden era of the past.

I also bring a large Chinese Chau Gong that was specially shipped from America. Her name is Buru, another ancient Sumerian word meaning crow. Crow energy carries themes of positive transformation and intuitive deepening. Chinese bronze gongs are known for their power, presence, and resonance.

Who Comes to a Gong Journey

People of all walks of life attend, either alone, with friends, in small groups, or as couples. Many are complete first timers and have never heard a gong before. You do not need experience, or any set belief systems.

Simply bring an open mind and a willingness to re balance

A Cosmic Experience

Allow the gongs to take you on a cosmic journey of sound and vibration. It is an evening designed to soothe the nervous system, support subtle energetic shifts, and offer a moment of deep inner spaciousness.

I have written blogs on Gongs (available on this site) please do take a look or contact me for any other further questions or curiosities.

A FEW PRACTICALITIES

The group Gong bath door will be locked at the start of the session at 7:30pm

This is firstly to protect your belongings whilst you are enjoying the session, but also to offer a safe space for you  to relax and settle into.

I simply cannot accept lateness -  this would be incredibly disruptive and therefore unfair for the rest group.

There is no signal at the hall, so I wont be able to receive any texts or calls before the event.

To protect the group from unsocial disturbances my group Gong Baths are not suitable for those under the influence of drugs or alcohol

The venue has wheelchair access and on site parking.

Contraindications

Individuals who are experiencing the following should most likely not attend a Gong journey:

-Epilepsy
-Mental health issues / panic disorder which you feel could be triggered by unfamiliar and or louder noises
-1st trimester of pregnancy
-Individuals who have had a pacemaker fitted

-Broken bones within the last 4-6 weeks

-Severe Osteoporosis

-Metal plates fitted within the last 6 weeks.

Booking policy

Life can be busy and sometimes our plans need to change, I try to be fair to all by offering date changes or refunds up to 24 hours before the start of the event.
