The Totnes group gong bath.

"Deep rest in a gorgeous venue"

The Yoki Way's popular monthly group Gong Bath has been running continuously across different venues in Totnes for over 4 years, but highly experinced and qualifed sound therapist Olivia Carter.

Recently however it moved to its new home in an intimate beautiful setting, allowing for a quieter, softer, and more nurturing experience.

Your mat, bolster, blankets, cushions, and eye pillow are set out waiting for you when you arrive.

During the colder months the log burner will be lit through out to make sure you are always cozy and warm in the space.

The mats are arranged in a gentle arc around the instruments, with the gongs held in the center of the space.

What to Expect When You Arrive

When you arrive you are welcome to settle on your mat, and choose your oracle cards from the central bowl. Once everyone has arrived and  is comfortable I will quietly come to each of your your mats with the short oracle reading interpretation to help you land in the space. There is no group participation or group sharing invloved.

I open the session with Reiki. gently placing my hands on each person’s feet to support grounding and regulation.

(If you prefer zero touch, that is also fine, as Reiki can be offered without physical contact.)

Once the Reiki has begun it will continues to flow to you for the duration of the session.

The Sound Journey

The main part of the evening is journey of sound which lasts for about fifty five minutes.

You are invited to simply lie back, soften, and allow yourself to be carried by the layers of sound and vibration created by the many gongs.

I work with around 6 Gongs for the group session, including three large gongs.

One of these is a Chinese Chau Gong that was crafted and shipped from America. Her name is Buru, from an ancient Sumerian term meaning crow. Crow energy carries themes of transformation and intuitive deepening, which many people feel reflected in the sound.

Large gongs produce complex harmonics that your ears only perceive partly. Much of the experience is felt throughout the body as vibration. This is why people often describe the journey as grounding, regulating, or deeply spacious.

I sometimes include a brief walk-about segment using the sonic free wave, so you can feel the sound waves close to your body.

Many people also report that receiving the sound in a circlular venue created a wonderful enveloped feeling during the sound journey, with other reporting how they could feel the Gongs vibrating up through the floor

The Gift of Silence

The journey concludes with a short period of silence known as shunyata.

Translated from Sanskrit, this means emptiness or the void.

The stillness lasts for around three to five minutes and is an essential part of the integration process.

At 8:45 when the session ends you are welcome to leave gently or stay for a herbal tea and moment of quiet or share your experience of the sound with others in the group.

Who Comes to a Gong Journey

People from all walks of life attend. Some come alone, some with a friend, some in pairs. Many are complete beginners and have never heard a gong before. You do not need any experience or any particular belief system to benefit from sound therapy

Simply bring an open mind, comfortable clothing  and a willingness to rest and re-balance.

A Cosmic Experience

A Gong Journey is a deep nervous system experience.

An evening designed to settle your whole body, restore inner spaciousness, and support subtle energetic shifts.

It is a moment away from the everyday noise. A place to feel held.

A chance to listen inward and return to yourself.

Some fall asleep, some have creative thoughts, some quietly process feeling and emotions and others feel healing in the physical body.

Everyone processes sound differently. Every session feels different.

Practicalities

Sessions begin at 7.15pm. Doors from 7:00pm. The door is closed at the start to create a safe and uninterrupted environment for everyone.

I cannot accept lateness, as it is disruptive for the group once the instruments have begun.

My Group Gong Journeys are not suitable for anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

There is a short walk through the garden to reach the space. This includes a slight incline. During autumn and winter it can be slippery, so please wear suitable footwear.

Free parking is available on the main road. Please avoid parking in the cul-de-sac to respect the privacy of local residents.

Refund or booking changes can be made up to 48 hours before the event stat time
