Twice-monthly group Sound Baths in Totnes

Deeply restorative sound baths in Totnes, held in an intimate yurt setting and designed to support nervous system regulation, deep rest, and inner spaciousness.

These small group sessions take place twice monthly and have been running consistently across Totnes for over four years, offering a calm, steady space to return to.

A more considered kind of sound bath

These sessions are intentionally small and held in a dedicated yurt space, rather than a temporarily hired venue.

Everything is prepared in advance for your comfort – soft mats, blankets, cushions, eye pillows, and sheepskin throws – so you can fully settle from the moment you arrive.

The gentle scent of frankincense and palo santo greets you on arrival, creating a subtle sense of grounding as you enter the space.

Comfort and support

Every detail of the space is designed to help you settle fully.

As well as the standard setup, including sheepskin throw, cushions, extra thick yoga mats and blnkets, there are a also a number of enhanced comfort spaces available.

Two spaces are set up with a crystal-lined infrared heat mats, placed on deep four-inch foam mattress. These can be especially supportive if lying on a padded yoga mat does not feel suitable for your body. There is no additional charge for these, but they are limited, so please email in advance if you would like to reserve one.

There are also two spaces with cozy heated throws available for those who enjoy extra warmth. Again, these can be reserved ahead of time.

All other mats are provided with an optional heated water bottle, and the log burner is lit to keep the entire space warm and cosy.

A different kind of arrival

When you arrive, there is no pressure to speak with the group or share.

You are simply invited to settle onto your mat, and choose your oracle cards. I will come to each person individually, offering a short, quiet reading at your mat (if you choose) to help you land in the space.

The session begins with Reiki, offered either with light touch or without contact, supporting grounding and regulation before the sound begins.

The Sound Journey

The main part of the evening is a deeply immersive gong bath, lasting around 50–55 minutes.

You are invited to simply lie back, soften, and allow yourself to be carried by layers of sound and vibration created by multiple gongs and instruments.

I work with a collection of gongs, including several large gongs, creating a rich, spacious sound field that is felt throughout the body as much as it is heard.

This is why many people describe the experience as grounding, regulating, and deeply restorative.

Experience and training

These sound baths are guided by highly experienced sound therapist Olivia Carter.

My training includes extensive study with internationally respected gong teacher and two times sound author Sheila Whittaker, including some time spent with Don Conreaux, and this year I embark on further advanced training with Mike Tamburo, known for his deeply immersive, multi-instrument approach to sound work.

This depth of training allows each session to be held with sensitivity, awareness, and a refined understanding of sound as a therapeutic tool.

The gift of stillness

The journey concludes with a short period of silence, sometimes referred to as shunyata,  a moment of stillness where the body integrates the experience.

This quiet space is an essential part of the session, often where the deepest rest is felt.

After the session

At the end of the session, you are welcome to leave quietly or stay for a herbal tea and a gentle moment of transition before returning to your evening.

Many people return regularly, using these sessions as a monthly reset.
